The last thing you expect when you come out of class is to see someone laying there, someone who took his life just seconds before. I could see him there. but I couldn’t believe it. While everyone was panicking and telling each other what happened, I kept thinking that he just tripped or fainted….
*phone rings*
Me: Allo?
Guy: Hi, is a Matthew Price there? (That’s not even our family name)
Me: No, you must have the wrong number.
Guy: Uh no, this is the right number
Me: I’m sorry, but you must have misdialed or something.
Guy: No. No I didn’t.
Me: What number did you dial?
Guy:…

Scott Westerfeld, Pretties
*Warning some spoilers*
This is the sequal to the book Uglies, and I would say that it is a good continuation. We were left at the end of the last book with Tally promising that she would turn herself in and become pretty, and she does. I think this series so far has actually been written pretty well, I don’t know if it’s because it’s been out for a while or what, but I just feel like series today are not written well lately, the language/flow is lacking or something in them.
I find Westerfeld’s ideas in this book are very relatable to today, yes it is a futuristic book, but the ideas of government corruption, people believing they know what’s right for you and therefore control what you can and can’t do, and manipulation of the truth by the higher-ups, all fit into today’s world. I think in this book, Shay is the biggest fucking prick bitch, and I hope something fucked up happens to her and her brain. I know as far as the relationships go, I like Tally with David more, but I can see how Zane has in some ways maybe done more for her.
I will say I am looking forward to continuing with this series.
